Yann is a Penang-born artist specializing in designing wearable arts and home decors with indigo dyeing and Shibori technique. She is the founder and designer of Yann Indigo Dye Room.
Yann is one of the people who was lucky to identify her passion and natural talent in arts at a young age. She dedicated most of her free time as a teenager to painting, sewing baby dolls, repurposing old pairs of jeans into fashionable tote bags, and designing paper doll dresses for her little sister. In her early career as an artist, Yann took inspiration from her Peranakan heritage and showcased the intricate designs of Nyonya porcelain and Malaysian batik through her artworks.

As she transitioned from a painter to a textile artist, she was excited to discover new possibilities to apply Shibori indigo dyeing techniques to produce contemporary products that fit the modern lifestyle and installation art.

Yann will exhibit her work, sell merchandise and run workshops in two locations – Mangga at Cheong Fatt Tze – The Blue Mansion (October 7th 9.30am – 4pm), and also ArtLane (October 14th & 15th). Please check the workshops section of the website for more information and how to enroll.
