Tiny Art, Big Heart, by Women Artists for Peace & Harmony

Women Artists for Peace & Harmony is a new collaboration of Nagomi artists in Penang. Nagomi art is a form of Japanese art healing, using pastels and fingers to create a gentle, transparent, warm pieces through simple yet unique painting techniques. The group’s mission is to promote an equal society by sharing the messages of peace and harmony through their artworks.

Organiser Susan Loone is a graduate (honours degree) in the field of social sciences and humanity (majored in Anthropology & Sociogy, minored in Psychology & Communications) from the National University of Malaysia (UKM).Currently, she works as a journalist with an established online news organisation and is based in Penang. She recently acquired a Japanese Associate Instructor’s Certificate on Nagomi Healing Art, therapeutic finger and soft pastel art.

Workshops will be held on March 27, 28 and 29 (Fri-Sun), 4pm to 6pm to experience “The Magic of Nagomi Art”. A minimum donation of RM30 will be collected for each artwork created during the workshop, which you can take home. All materials are provided. There will be a talk by Ms Sarana Khoo, the founder of Nagomi Art in Malaysia on March 28, Sat, 3pm, on the “Wonders of Nagomi Healing Art”.

There will be a talk “Art as a tool of self-expression and healing” by clinical psychologist and art therapist Dr Valerie Jacques  on March 29, Sun, 3pm.
