This a series of mixed media works on framed or mounted ply board and stretched cotton or linen canvas, depicting imperfect, weathered wall fragments and the conversation that the artist would have had with them- sharing, introspecting, reflecting and sometimes waiting for the surface to respond.
These artworks draw influence from everyday familiarities, like the heavy humid air, the warm wetness of rain, stillness of a mountain or even layered experiences like the rich texture of age, a gentle drift into a memory or forgotten history. In fact, it is an exploration of the very fabric of what it means to be alive.

With a Masters degree in Textiles from the National Institute of Design, India, and an initial career in Design and then Curating, Priya has honed her interests in the Arts for several years through active studio practice, conducting workshops and holding exhibitions. She explores the visual media through abstract compositions and colour and leans heavily on tactile elements which are achieved through the employment of industrial material such as jute rope, cement, palette wood and rusted metal on both conventional and unconventional surfaces.
The alpha-numeric code on the paintings, 13150 F(P), is a quiet tribute to the artists’ roots. She signs her work with her father’s identification number from his years of service in the military
Priya lives and works in Singapore.
Exhibition opens June 3rd and will end on June 30th.
