Rebecca is Malaysian artist working between Penang & Italy. This show comprises of all new works on paper. The exhibition deals generally with women, their bodies, & sexuality- attitudes in Malaysia & what we perceive in Malaysian media. There’s fruit too & our perception of specific fruit & general knowledge & folklore of them lead the ‘narrative’ for these paintings.
There is a synonymous connection between sex & botany & Rebecca’s thoughts on how men in particular perceive women & girls, censorship, folklore, & the parallels between how women & girls, & the environment, are treated not only in a Malaysian context, but also in that of the wider world. They also refer to the language used in reference to women & environment.
The exhibition is a collection of visuals accompanied by lines of poetry & words.
