Alaa Shaheet was born in Damascus, the capital of Syria, and is based now in Penang. He studied Fine Arts at Damascus University before moving to Malaysia in 2012 to pursue his Masters of Art in International Contemporary Art, He’s been living and working there ever since. With a diverse body of artwork that includes painting, printmaking, drawing, and mixed media, Shasheet has won critical acclaim for his ability to portray human inner feelings and reflect emotions with the use of strong graphical compositions and lines on canvas , using mixed media. He is exhibiting together with sculptor Aboud Fares (see Aboud Fares Open Studio)
